Hi - we are Simon & Joy Applebee we own and run Chalet Orbelus, a luxury fully catered ski chalet.

After many years of working for other people, we decided to branch out on our own and create a ski chalet in Bansko to rival any we have stayed in. Having enjoyed chalet hospitality ourselves, we focus on things we believe will make your stay with us comfortable and enjoyable.

We first came to Bansko in December 2003 we fell in love with the place and we purchased our chalet (from the photo below you can see we had a lot of work ahead of us). We moved out to Bansko permanently in August 2004 and had the chalet ready for our first ski season that year. Our luxury chalet offers views of the Pirin mountain range and is situated at the south end of Bansko, approximately 700 m from the gondola and about 10 minutes walk from the town centre. We have now run the chalet for 7 seasons and are looking forward to this season.

Our chalet has four floors, three of the floors are for our guests’ use. The chalet has been designed to cater for all our guests’ needs and offers very spacious accommodation. The fourth floor is our personal accommodation.

Bansko is a town of just under 10,000 residents. In the winter, Bansko becomes a vibrant town with many bars, clubs and restaurants opening just for the winter season. In the summer, Bansko has a sleepy laid back Mediterranean feel about it, with long , hot sunny days. During the summer months Bansko offers various events at the weekends.

We still love living in Bansko and enjoy skiing in the winter and walking in the mountains in the summer.

Take a look at a video of our 4 year old granddaughter skiing at Chalin Valog in March 2011
